The Notebook Quotes: Part 1

Birkas:,

I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts and I’ve led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough..

So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s going to be really hard; we’re gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me… everyday. (vairāk…)

Birkas:,

The one you love and the one who loves you are never, ever the same person.

It can

Birkas:,

Just when you think it can’t get any worse, it can. And just when you think it can’t get any better, it can.

Don’t expect more

Birkas:

You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect – you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break – her heart. So don’t hurt her, don’t change her, don’t analyze and don’t expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she’s not there.

Monster

Birkas:,

It seemed funny that one day I would go to bed in her arms and the next not feel anything, like a switch had gone off. But no, that wasn’t honest either. This had been building for a long time. Our silences were getting longer. Our arguments more frequent. How do you stay with someone when there are no dreams to build? No purpose to accomplish? No meaning? No meaning —that was the monster that drove us away from one another in the end. Always.

To choose not to choose is still a choice for which you alone are responsible.

iemests iemesls nav pamesls

Lai arī ko kāds cits reiz teiktu,
Lai arī ko kāds reiz domātu.
Lai arī ko teiktu es,
Lai arī ko domātu Tu.
Manas sarkanās piezīmes pateiks visu.
Kādreiz. Kad būs laiks.
Kad tas būs mans, Tavs.
Kad tas kļūs Mūsu. [???]
Sarkanās piezīmes –
Salkanas iezīmes ikdienas pagājībai,
Kur pa vidu pa kādam sarkanam ķieģelim
Tiek celta nākotne.
Tu sobrīd skaties uz rindām
Un domā vai tas ir dzejolis.
Nē, tas nav dzejolis, tas nav nekas.
Cilvēka laimei nekad nav bijis vajadzīgs iemesls, to tikai pasi sev esam iestāstījuši.
Man ir iemesls.
Kāds iemesls ir Tev smaidīt katru rītu?

Why ask for more?

Birkas:,

All she had to do was make the simplest of gestures – open her hands and let go her hold. She lifted one hand and moved the fingers of it; they responded, in surprise and obedience, and this obedience of a thousand little unsuspected muscles was in itself a miracle. Why ask for more?
